Knife Amnesty Van

Good Afternoon All, 

I wanted to make you aware of the Home Office Summer Surrender Scheme, which the Met is supporting throughout August.

The scheme aims to reduce the number of knives and bladed articles in London by providing members of the public with safe and anonymous opportunities to surrender weapons without fear of prosecution. 

As part of the campaign, an amnesty knife surrender van will be deployed in Hackney and Tower Hamlets on Wednesday 12th August.

Please be aware that unlike previous schemes, there is no compensation programme in place this year.

In addition to the mobile van, members of the public can also use the existing Word 4 Weapons knife surrender bins located across London. These bins will be emptied before and after the campaign period. Locations can be found here: https://www.word4weapons.co.uk/knife-bin-locations
